Bio

My name is Brenda Ferguson-Calloway. I am a native of Springfield, SC. I graduated from Hunter-Kinard High School in Norway, SC (presently known as Hunter-Kinard-Tyler in Neeses, SC). I am a 1985 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. I earned a Master of Arts/Education in Curriculum and instruction in Computer Education in 2011 and a Master of Information Systems in 2013 from the University of Phoenix. I am certified in Elementary Education.

I am a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

I am also a proud member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Cayce, SC where I have served on the clerical staff for the past 17 years. I am also a Sunday School teacher for the elementary students. Our motto at Mt. Zion is "Making a Difference Where it Counts in the Lives of People!" In my life, I have taken the motto a bit further: "Making a Difference Where it Counts in the Lives of Children!"

I am married to Marion Calloway, a native of Rowesville, SC. I am the proud mother of a daughter, Michieka and a son, Mareiko.

My Philosophy of Education: Everyone deserves an opportunity to learn. The opportunity to learn is a privilege for everyone who is presented with such a wonderful opportunity. Everyone can learn but they might not learn at the same pace as others. Teaching is for those who want to make a difference in the lives of the students.
