Hello Mighty Cardinals,

Welcome to St. Matthews K-8 School, where we partner to do what's best for children. Our school is one of the most diverse and exceptional school villages in the state.  We strive to have a safe and inviting atmosphere that fosters growth academically, socially, and emotionally. As always, we diligently strive for excellence based on the premise of Teaching and Learning and use that culture of learning to empower and prepare children to compete and succeed globally.

As you may recall, we developed a Reading Plan that provides ninety minutes of uninterrupted reading instruction daily in grades K-8. Children in grades K-2 will experience language through components of balanced literacy, with a focus on phonics. We will continue to have STEM opportunities for students in seventh and eighth grades.  We will also have new laptops for students and an onsite technology coach to assist teachers in providing best practices for technology usage.

We strongly encourage parent participation in our volunteer programs, SIC, and the PTO.  There will be many opportunities for you to become engaged with our school, such as our literacy nights, Muffins for Moms, Doughnuts for Dads, Grandparents’ Day, and more. At St. Matthews K-8, we believe that Cardinal Character Counts! Thus, parents will continue to have the opportunity to participate in activities at home with their children that promote character education skills.

Finally, our children's safety is important to us. We believe in establishing relationships that support all of us being able to make reports if we notice anything that is harmful to the safety of all.

The administrative team, faculty and staff are committed to doing what's best for children!

Sincerest regards,

Ms. Treda L. Keith, Principal

Dr. Melissa Peeples, Assistant Principal
